P.E. in Germany (1700-1800)

During the early modern European period, P.E. in Germany focused on the development of strong citizens through programs in the schools and communities. A person named Johann Bernhard Basedow promoted school gymnastics. Th program focuse on exercise and instruction in activities such as gymnastics, games, marching, running, and wrestling. These leaders believed that P.E. deserved a place in school curriculum. Again....you know where I got this information, look at my other post..

  1. I like this post a lot. I am a Physical Education major and I am glad to see someone takes an interest in it. I was also A wrestler in high school and I think that wrestling should be a sport everyone should have in their school.

  2. Physical Education is definitely something important in schools now. It is interesting to see how the involvement started and how far it has come. There are more sports involved in it now than there were back then, but it was a start.
I was a very sports involved person until I got a knee injury, but I still do what I can without hurting myself even more. I think P.E. is something that needs to be more advertised in schools.

  4. I wonder what kind of different exercises countries had back in ancient times in comparison to today? As humans began to think differently as time went forward, I think they change exercise base on new knowledge. The changes that different exercise offered to each part of the body.
